Pulse Flowmeter measurements were shown to vary with the chronic changes in peripheral flow expected in patients with atherosclerotic vascular disease. Fourteen older men with atherosclerosis (age=60±6y) had decreased PPV (p<0.005) compared to healthy younger controls. In the subject group, PPV was 41.2% smaller than the control group (p<0.005).
