off-pump coronary bypass operation
We tested the device on a patient undergoing an off-pump coronary bypass operation. We observed decreases in both upper and lower extremity flow when the surgeon lifted the heart. Also we detected a decrease in flow when the patient became acidotic which returned to normal when the acidosis was corrected.
The cardiac anesthesiologist said that the Pulse Flow measurement (obtained non-invasively) seemed to provide similar information to mixed venous O2.
